1kg of used pens = 1 euro for charity! Spotlight on this environmentally-friendly community initiative.
A recycling box for used pens is now available to parents and childcare professionals in every Rigolo Comme La Vie crèche. The aim is to convert the pens into donations for the charity Clowns de l’Espoir.
This event is part of the We Act For Kids ethos embraced by all the brands in the ÏDKIDS community and is in line with the values of Rigolo Comme La Vie: empathy, self-esteem, taking and making time, and peaceful co-existence.
Thirty clowns from Clowns de L’Espoir spend their days brightening the lives of children in hospital in the Hauts-de-France region. And when evening falls, the tired and happy children fall asleep in a flash! The clowns also make sure they actively involve the parents, family and nursing staff in these weekly events in a relevant way.
The charity works in partnership with Terracycle, an innovative recycling company that uses the plastic from recycled pens to make everyday and decorative objects. All writing instrument except pencils and mechanical pencils can be collected (e.g. ballpoint pens, felt tip pens, markers, highlighters and corrector pens) and turned into euros based on their weight.
It’s an easy way to give products a new lease of life while helping to bring joy and laughter to children in hospital. Feel free to start a campaign in your own workplace or school. With very little effort you can help a great cause!
