For many parents, the first weeks of the lockdown have been all about finding a new daily routine. Figuring out how to juggle work, everyday tasks, schoolwork at home and more took some time.
Now that the dust has settled, a few blocks of free time have emerged. ÏDKIDS employees have been sharing the extra little things they’ve been doing with their children during these free moments.
A tip from Matthieu, dad to Jeanne, age 4, and Victor, age 8, for improving Victor’s musical skills:
I take a video of him and we send it to his teacher, who gives him feedback. He’s really motivated.
“I’m only working 25% of my normal hours. This is giving me a chance to motivate my son, Victor, to practise his clarinet. He’s a pretty good student at school, but when it comes to music, it’s harder! I have time now to help him. I take a video of him and we send it to his teacher, who gives him feedback. He’s really motivated. He even wrote a poem about the clarinet, and his teacher sent it to everyone to stay in contact.”
As sunny days arrive and the world begins to green up again, gardening is an excellent way to get little ones interested in nature.
Margaux (age 5) and Justine (age 13) are growing tomatoes, radishes and strawberries with their mum, Agathe.
Julia (age 2) and Basile (age 22 month) are enjoying digging in the dirt.
Louison (age 4) et Margaux (age 3) are practising their fine motor skills as they make pressed flower collections and floral headbands.
At 10 months, Emilie is just learning to sit up amongst the flowers.
Cooking and baking are obviously another great way to spend time together as a family and licking the bowl clean is still a treat at any age!
Marine, mum of Suzanne (10 month) explains:
“My special tips is to make her discover fruits and vegetables while I’m cooking. She loves it.”
And some are just busy growing up. like Gabi (age 3,5) whom mum, Lucia, says:
“It seems to me I see her growing up before my very eyes.”
