To celebrate its twenty-year anniversary, Okaïdi created a music album. Five children, five talented individuals give voice to their enthusiasm through twelve songs that reflect the universal values of hope and peace.
Each of the ÏDKIDS brands is committed to bringing about change through We Act For Kids and supporting the ÏDKIDS foundation.
Okaïdi has turned to music as a way to amplify children’s voices, enable them to express their hopes and dreams, and promote respect for children’s rights all over the world. The twelve uplifting, stirring tracks on the We Are World Citizens album were inspired by twelve articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The same twelve values have inspired Okaïdi for twenty years.
The album – created for and sung by children – was released in November 2016.
The “Universels” music video from the album was first played on 20 November 2016 (Universal Children’s Day) to demonstrate the project’s dedication to this cause. It was shot at CaféZoïde, the first cultural café for children aged 0 to 16 and their families.
This community venue hosts shows, get-togethers, exhibitions, debates and games for all the children in the neighbourhood. Open and welcoming, it is part of the Fédération Internationale des Cafés des Enfants.
The video’s director, Bahia Rehaz, is an actor, author and director who made the “Paris, Un Jour De” web series. She also filmed this special children’s performance. Her aim was to let the children convey the emotion of the moment through their spontaneity and connection with the audience.
The recording was a great opportunity for sharing and celebration and everyone who took part was proud of the result.
