{"id":8618,"date":"2019-11-21T17:37:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T16:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/corporate-idkids-com.azurewebsites.net\/handicap-semaine-de-sensibilisation-chez-idkids\/"},"modified":"2019-12-04T15:47:37","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T14:47:37","slug":"handicap-semaine-de-sensibilisation-chez-idkids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/en\/handicap-semaine-de-sensibilisation-chez-idkids\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00cfDKIDS stands up for disability"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>European Disability Employment Week was a great opportunity for \u00cfDKIDS to talk about disability at work<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a week full of fun and learning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>On Monday 18 November and Wednesday 27 November, &#8220;Silence is Golden&#8221; coffee breaks at \u00cfDKIDS offices in Roubaix and Paris, respectively;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"322\" src=\"https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE.png 480w, https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE-305x205.png 305w, https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE-36x24.png 36w, https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2887-CAFE-SILENCE-119x80.png 119w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>From 18 to 22 November, a Handipoursuite tournament on the disability-themed version of the famous Trivial Pursuit, available as a board game and online app;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>On Thursday 21 November, improvisational skits by the leading French troupe of improv actors aimed at raising awareness of disability and the challenges of disability in the workplace.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Julien from Oxybul attended the improv skits and came away impressed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;Talking about disability is great. But\nwe have to start by asking ourselves what disability is, where it begins and\nends. Because if you stop and think about it, we all have our own inabilities.\nSome of us are bad with numbers, others have a physical disability; some are\nemotionally stunted, others lack a moral compass. So what matters above all is\naccepting people and recognizing their individuality and vulnerability. I think\nwe&#8217;re all better off moving in the right direction.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Disability is above all about accepting people and recognizing their individuality and vulnerability. We all have inabilities!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00cfDKIDS HR Manager Manuella was also there:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;I thought getting employees to share\nfeedback was really useful. What it showed is that we have to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>1) Change how we view disability; and so<\/li><li>2) Create an environment where people can be frank about their disability, especially when it isn&#8217;t physically visible.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What stood out for me is that people\noften try to hide their disability for fear that others will either look down\non them or label them as &#8216;disabled&#8217; and treat them differently, even if they\nmean well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m also keen to see how we can create an atmosphere of trust where each employee feels safe to express and share their vulnerability, whatever it may be.
