{"id":4572,"date":"2018-09-14T16:34:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T14:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/corporate-idkids-com.azurewebsites.net\/?p=4572"},"modified":"2018-11-23T16:23:09","modified_gmt":"2018-11-23T15:23:09","slug":"njoy-children-with-disabilities-enjoy-a-weekend-surrounded-by-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/en\/njoy-children-with-disabilities-enjoy-a-weekend-surrounded-by-nature\/","title":{"rendered":"N\u2019JOY: children with disabilities enjoy a weekend surrounded by nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The weekend of 17 June, <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.idkids.com\/marque\/njoy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">N\u2019JOY <\/a>teamed up with the Les 1000 &amp; UN Loisirs charity to organize a \u201ctrapper camp\u201d for six young people and two adults with disabilities. The programme included workshops on fishing, building, campfire cooking, barbecuing and camping skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/les1000etunloisirs.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1000 et UN Loisirs<\/a> is a charity that works to advance the rights of children, young people and adults with a mental disability and help them reach their full potential. N\u2019JOY works with it to offer appropriate leisure activities and holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Aged between 14 and 18, these budding adventurers were supervised by two leaders from N\u2019JOY and nine volunteers from the charity. Traditional <a href=\"http:\/\/njoy.fr\/?class=camp-trappeur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trapper camp<\/a> activities, which are a key part of N\u2019JOY\u2019s programme, were adapted specially for them. These included campfire cooking workshops, building a fishing rod, fishing and recycling the fishing rod by turning it into a flute!<\/p>\n<p>The young people really appreciated being so close to nature. The supervisors and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and shared games infused with a spirit of togetherness.<\/p>\n<p>Specializing in \u2018play and learn\u2019 activities, N\u2019JOY organizes two weekends and one special activity each year tailored to people with disabilities. As well as the tented trapper weekend of 17 and 18 June, a <a href=\"http:\/\/njoy.fr\/?class=geocaching\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GeoPirates<\/a> orienteering race is planned for 24 September along with a specially adapted <a href=\"http:\/\/njoy.fr\/?class=ecole-des-sorciers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">School of Sorcery<\/a> weekend on 21 and 22 October.
