Spotlight on ÏDKIDS orientation day

On 6 February 53 new employees from the store network, head office and warehouses arrived at the ÏDKIDS head office in Roubaix for an orientation day.

Every year four of these days are organized to welcome our new employees.

The aim is to help employees understand:

  • How it all began: the ÏDKIDS community is a dynamic family group with a long history in the Hauts-de France region and a strong desire to work in a collaborative way.
  • What We Act For Kids is all about: “Working to make a better world for growing children”.
  • The cultural platform and commitments made by each of the community’s brands.

And prepare everyone for the challenges ahead in the next 20 years!

Presentations and workshops were interspersed with opportunities for interaction and discussion, including a chance to chat to Jean Duforest, one of the co-founders of the ÏDKIDS community. A presentation of the role of the ÏDKIDS foundation, a tour of the premises and a look at visual management were also part of the programme.

  • Vincent, Okaïdi area manager

“I took part in an ÏDKIDS orientation day in September 2017. It was highly inspirational! As well as being a valuable experience, I consider it my responsibility to pass on these powerful messages to my staff.

I was impressed that the company’s founders, management committee and brands were all represented. The time they spent with us is further evidence of the importance the community affords its history, culture and commitments. I’d like to thank everybody involved. And I learned a lot about the tools that are part of our corporate culture, like the responsibility tree, the paradox triangle and HESSERBraC.

The presentations given by our brands gave us a much deeper understanding of each of them. I was particularly impressed by the clarity of Jacadi’s positioning, the richness of Bubble‘s content and the vitality of N’Joy.

Being able to share this day with new colleagues from a variety of backgrounds (managers from all the brands and different countries, head office staff and others) was an incredible opportunity to clearly see the potential our diverse community has to offer. When I got back to work, I put the tools into practice and spoke to each of my staff individually about what makes us so unique and a force to be reckoned with.”

  • Nila, Jacadi head of e-commerce development Germany and Austria

“I joined Jacadi in May 2017. The orientation day lived up to all my expectations. I got to visit head office, meet the founders and learn more about all the ÏDKIDS brands. I also came away with a better understanding of the ÏDKIDS community spirit and the positive values conveyed by SHERBET (Smile, Hello, Eye contact, Respect, Bye, Enfant, Thank you).”

  • Sylvain, Okaïdi regional manager, Spain

“Since May 2017 I’ve been a regional manager with responsibility for 18 stores (16 in Catalonia and 2 in Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands). The orientation day was a chance to interact with colleagues from different departments within the ÏDKIDS community in a constructive way. I understood how important it was to belong to a people-oriented community prepared to work to make a better world for growing children. The various presentations taught us more about the history and values of the ÏDKIDS community, as well as its different brands and projects, so that we can all move forward in the same direction. The messages I heard gave me a much better understanding of what my staff and colleagues do on a daily basis. It was a very enriching experience! I’d like to thank everyone who helped organize this event and the various presenters for their insight.”
